Description

Rosewood and cane Planter’s Chair from the 1920s/30s. The Planter's Chair is believed to have originated in the Caribbean and was introduced to India in the 17th century by Europeans.
The chair was used as a piece of furniture to take a break at noon, when estate owners used to take a recess from work. The chair was fitted with a cane seat to battle the tropical heat and provide ventilation.
