Description

“Series 7” chairs designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955, made in Denmark by Fritz Hansen in 1981. Hansen describe this chair as “an icon in modern furniture history…Its unique shape is timeless and incredibly versatile, displaying character without overpowering the eye.” The base or legs are discreetly mounted to a circular disc beneath the seat, further enhancing the clean, minimal aesthetic of Jacobsen’s design.
Arne Emil Jacobsen (1902-1971) was a Danish architect and furniture designer. He is remembered for his contribution to architectural functionalism and for the worldwide success he enjoyed with well-designed chairs. Most of his furniture designs were the result of a cooperation with the furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen with which he initiated a collaboration in 1934.
