Description

Gowri or Gauri, also known as Shakti, is a form of Parvati, the Hindu goddess of fertility, love and devotion, as well as of divine strength and power. A central deity in the Trinity of Goddesses in Hinduism (Tridevi), she is known by many names and is worshipped as the Mother Goddess. This head of Gowri is excellently cast in brass and would have been used by followers of the Shaivite sect of Hinduism.  An old collectible from Maharashtra, the piece is in good condition.
