Vibhooti or Vibhuti is a sacred ash made of burnt dried wood, used in religious worship in Hinduism. This old box from North Karnataka is used for storing vibhuti. It portrays Nandi, the mount of Lord Shiva, carrying the box on his back. This beautifully carved wooden collectible would have been used by members of the Shaivite community. The lid of the box has been replaced over time.
