Description

Mid-century teak corner two tier table in the style of Luther Draper for The Coronado Group collection for Founders Furniture in 1955. It is said that Luther Draper designed for the 'who's who' of high calibre furniture companies in the mid-century era. He had an unmistakable clean, modern mark he left on his work. He also designed the “India Teakwood” collection for White Furniture Company, and the well-known “Boomerang Desk” for Alma, which was recognized for its prize-winning office furnishings. He also worked in High Point, North Carolina, for well-known firms such as Henredon, Myrtle Desk Company, and Thayer Coggin.
Founders Furniture was started in 1947 as a subsidiary of the esteemed Knoll International for their residential line, and then merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1965.
Mid-Century Modern was a movement in interior design, product design, graphic design, architecture and urban development across the world from roughly 1945 to 1970. Scandinavia, in particular, had a great influence on mid-century modern furniture design, which was minimalist, clean-lined and looked to combine functionality with beauty, as well as being well-crafted, classic, and timeless. This is probably why mid-century furniture pieces are still so sought after today and easily fit into any style of home.
