Description
This is a very rare and beautiful brass and Bakelite, Art Deco, Original Hanau, ‘Sollux lamp’, made in Germany in the 1930s. It has been restored to working order, and can be used with ordinary thread bulb as a desk lamp. The company logo and additional "Sollux Lampe" and "Original Hanau" are mounted on metal plates on the lamp. ‘Original Hanau’ invented the UV high-pressure lamp and is the founder of tanning with artificial light sources. In 1904, the Original Hanau laboratories (in Hanau near Frankfurt, Germany) developed the first quartz lamp whose UV light output was of almost genuine sun quality. This marked the invention of the "sunlamp" and started off what was to become the tanning industry. The "Original Hanau" brand was introduced in the 1920s. Note: The height is variable as the lamp is adjustable.
