An interesting collectible, this ornate nutcracker would have been used as a betel-nut cutter in the preparation of paan (a mixture of areca nut and betel leaf). Both the arms of the nutcracker can also be flipped around to turn it into a push dagger or Katar. It is believed that these types of nutcrackers were used by women to protect themselves in the olden days. Made of brass and iron, and mounted on a base, the piece is in good condition and has undergone normal wear.
