Description

The Garuda is a large legendary, birdlike creature, or humanoid bird, that appears in both Hindu and Buddhist mythology. A divine being in Hinduism, Garuda is the vahana or vehicle of Lord Vishnu and is often depicted as a man with wings and a beak.

This exquisite figure of Garuda with outspread wings is an old collectible, most likely from Gujarat or Maharashtra. Made of polychrome wood, the left foot of the figure is missing all toes and right foot is slightly cracked and missing 3 toes. Apart from this, the piece is in good condition.
