Description

In Hinduism, Nandi is the name of the bull who serves as the vahana or mount of Lord Shiva. He is also the gatekeeper of Mount Kailash, where Shiva and Parvati reside, and is the leader of Shiva’s Ganas or attendants. All over India, temples dedicated to Shiva generally have a seated Nandi displayed at the entrance.
In an unusual representation, this old collectible depicts a standing Nandi with the mouth slightly open. Carved in wood, this striking figure has undergone normal time related wear and tear, but is otherwise in good condition.
