Description
"Maati ka bartan hai pyaare, maati mein mil jaana ha"... Humans and the matki, both eventually return to Mother Earth at the end of their lives. This artwork is part of the 'Maati' series, which depicts human emotions while highlighting the humble ‘matki’ (earthen pots made of maati or mud), as the hero. Drawing parallels between ‘us’ and the matki, the artist has portrayed different facets of human life in this series of artworks. Success comes and goes in one's life, but moving ahead without losing your values is more important than reaching great heights at any cost. In our competitive world, everyone is always trying to move upward. But does the race ever end? The key to true success, is to understand the importance of believing in your own journey, and not pressurizing yourself to mimic others or strive for those things that everyone else is fighting for. This artwork is 22 x 14.5 inches and with the frame, it measures 25 x 18 inches.

Ashu Gupta is an emerging and highly promising artist, who creates enchanting pen and ink artworks using hundreds of thousands of repeating patterns, scribbles, circles and lines. A self-taught artist with a degree in interior design and a love for doodling, her deeply layered, mostly black and white compositions offer the possibility of a new interpretation with every glance. Ashu’s subjects are always emphasized, with nothing to distract from the beauty of her stunning pieces. With an artistic style that is both distinct and confident, her works have been collected by serious art collectors, in what are still the early years of her professional journey. Ashu has participated in several group exhibitions across India, and also held a solo exhibition at Gallery Sublime, Bangalore in 2017 and another at Artisera in August 2020, titled ‘Points and Perspectives’. She has been nominated for the prestigious Lalith Kala Academy Awards (2016-17 and 2017-18) and the 2017 Bombay Art Society Awards. The artist lives and works in Bangalore.
