‘The Mathnawi of Jalal-Ud-Din-Rumi’ reproduced from a MS. (manuscript) dated 1103 H., written by Ustad ‘Abd-ul-Karim, son of Mir Maliki, son of Mirza Ibrahim, son of ‘Imad al-Hussani’ by G. Yazdani Director of Archaeology in his Exalted Highness the Nizams Dominion, and Epigraphist to the Government of India for Moslem Inscription.’ Printed by Messers. F. Bruckmann AG., Munich 1933. Contains about 25,000 verses, with errors corrected between the lines or in margins by the author Yazdani.

“The Mathnawi…is an extensive poem written in Persian by Jalal al-Din Muhammad Balkhi, also known as RUMI. The Mathanawi is one of the most influential works of Sufism, commonly called "the Quran in Persian". It has been viewed by many commentators as the greatest mystical poem in world literature. It is a spiritual text that teaches Sufis how to reach their goal of being truly in love with God.”
“The Masnavi was started by the Rumi during the final years of his life. He began dictating the first book around the age of 54 around the year 1258 and continued composing verses until his death in 1273. The sixth and final book would remain incomplete.”

Source: Wiki - ‘Ghulam Yazdani (1885–1962) was an Indian archaeologist who was instrumental in the restoration and conservation of most sites in the Hyderabad state, including the caves at Ajanta, Bidar Fort, and Daulatabad. Dr. Yazdani wrote several books, including about eight volumes on the work of Ajanta and Ellora before and after excavation and preservation. Dr. Yazdani received several honours such as being elected a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society, a Member of the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, and an Honorary Fellow of Islamic Research Association, Bombay. In 1936, he was conferred the title of "Officer of the Distinguished Order of the British Empire" (O.B.E.). Finally, in recognition of his glorious service to history and archaeology, the Government of India conferred the award of Padma Bhushan in 1959.’

Condition:
Good condition. Copy of manuscript using phototype process. Gold border to the texts. The beginning of each of the 6 parts has an illuminated ‘unwan’ (title) in gold and colour. Binding after a specimen of arab style from the state library of Munich. Leather covered boards rubbed, and coming away, and lost in some sections. Internally in very good condition.
