Description

Shrinathji is a form of Lord Krishna manifest as a seven-year-old child or balak. There is a temple called Shrinathji ki Haveli dedicated to the deity at Nathdwara, near Udaipur in Rajasthan.
Legend has it, that Krishna, as a child, lifted Govardhan Parvat (hill) on his little finger for seven days, and safeguarded the people of Vrindavan from Lord Indira’s devastating thunderstorms. This episode is indicated in Shrinathji’s posture in most artistic depictions, with the deity’s left hand raised. The right hand typically rests on his waist, or is lowered in an act of blessing. This exquisite and highly detailed sculpture of Shrinathji is handcrafted using teak wood, and entirely covered using 99% pure silver sheet.
