Description

African sculptures are famous amongst collectors around the world, and offer tremendous insights into the cultures and tribal communities from where they originate. Often figurative, they typically depict the human form. Usually fashioned out of wood, they may have religious or spiritual references. Made using ebony, this striking wall piece is originally from East Africa, and probably dates back to the 1970s. Human figures can be seen at three levels in this wall piece, with the top most level depicting a man and woman holding some weapons. In the middle tier, several humans are depicted together engaged in different activities, while on the bottom level, there are two figures who are also armed.
