ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Dinabandhu Marndi’s visuals and practice draw heavily from rural Orissa, where he spent a large part of his life. His works have an autobiographical resonance whereby he paints from his memories and experiences of growing up in a rural surrounding. At the soul of his works lies the relentless attempt to capture humanity in everyday life. His skilful rendition of rural scenes and characters comes to life, literally, given his dexterous handling of colour and forms. The images are almost palpable on the surface, beckoning the viewer to inch closer and interact with the canvasses.
