  • ABOUT Swapnesh Vaigankar

    Born in 1983 in Goa, Swapnesh Vaigankar completed his BFA in Painting from Goa College of Art in 2005 and MFA in Printmaking from M.S. University of Baroda in 2007.
    For Swapnesh, the idea of the self is deeply connected to time, space, and temperament. His artistic journey through drawing, painting and printmaking is an ongoing exploration of mediums as vehicles for expression and aesthetic experience. The act of creating marks becomes a reflection of his presence, transforming the process into a meditative journey that becomes both a search for the self and an attempt to connect with others.
    Printmaking occupies a central place in Swapnesh’s practice as a medium of communication and exploration. Through the discipline of the printmaking process, he investigates unseen realms of thought and expression, with the line serving as a primary element of his visual language. For him, printmaking embodies dedication, passion, energy, and a deep sense of commitment, creating a visual language that acts as an unseen mirror of inner experiences. The artist’s journey through the medium becomes inseparable from the development of his individual artistic voice.
    Swapnesh views printmaking as a social medium with the potential to create awareness and engage with contemporary realities. The multiple nature of prints allows images to reach wider audiences, functioning as a means of communication, reflection, and collective understanding. Ultimately, Swapnesh’s practice is a continuous journey of discovery — an exploration of self, material, and shared human experience. Through his works, he seeks to create a space where personal reflection and collective consciousness come together.
