The Art Nouveau movement was a reaction against the academic art, eclecticism and historicism of 19th century architecture and decoration. It was often inspired by natural forms, included a sense of dynamism and movement, and the use of modern materials such as iron, glass, ceramics and concrete.
This beautifully carved sculpture of a girl is a fine example of craftsmanship from the Art Nouveau period.
