  • ABOUT Rani Banerjee

Rooted in quiet introspection, Rani Banerjee’s art practice emerged during her formal training in Painting at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, where a semi-abstract visual language gradually took shape. Working with muted pastel tones and fluid, continuous lines, the artist developed a style that privileges subtlety, softness, and emotional restraint — a direction that has continued to evolve since graduating in 2022.
Central to Rani’s practice is a sustained engagement with the human gaze. Faces appear through gently interconnected lines, at times overlapping or dissolving into one another, suggesting inner states that resist direct articulation. Rather than assert themselves, these figures remain understated, inviting prolonged looking and contemplative engagement.
Rani’s works occupy a space between the seen and the felt, constructing moments of stillness where emotion is suggested rather than declared. Through layered compositions and restrained palettes, she explores emotional continuity and the quiet complexities of human experience — those that linger beneath the surface and endure beyond the immediate moment.
In 2025, Rani Banerjee presented her first solo exhibition at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, marking a significant step in an evolving professional practice. Continuing to work with themes of introspection and silent narrative, she creates immersive visual spaces that encourage viewers to slow down and encounter fragments of themselves within the quiet gaze of the painted figures.
