Nisha Dhinwa
Born in 1998 in Rajasthan, Nisha Dhinwa is a Bangalore-based visual artist and printmaker. She holds a BVA in Printmaking from the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore, and an MFA in Printmaking from M.S. University of Baroda.
Nisha’s practice centres on insects, inspired by their intricate forms, movements, and patterns. Through close observation of insect anatomy, she draws parallels between insect structures and the human body, exploring shared systems, gestures, and emotions. Working across drawing, painting, printmaking, and three-dimensional forms, she often portrays insects as expressive, human-like characters dressed in contemporary clothing.
Rooted in her childhood experiences of growing up in a farming family, Nisha’s work reflects memories of early encounters with insects in fields and gardens, shaping her exploration of identity, transformation, memory, and environment.
Nisha has participated in several group exhibitions across India, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Baroda, Delhi, and Mumbai. Notable shows include Anatomy of a Landscape, a group show at Akara Contemporary, Mumbai, Embark – Edition VI & VII at ARK Gallery, Vadodara, and Symbols of Care and Nurturing at Nine Fish Art Gallery, Mumbai. She has attended artist residencies at Space Studio, Vadodara (2023), Top Floor Studio, Noida (2025), and participated in Hyderabad Art 2025, presented by Ekchitra Gallery.
