In immaculate condition, this exquisitely carved rosewood box has elaborate brass fittings, and is a truly special find. It was made by European cabinetmakers during the British colonial era. Such boxes were designed and produced in Tamil Nadu, in an area called Porto Novo or Parangipettai, which is in present day Cuddalore district.
