Gowri or Gauri, also known as Shakti, is a form of Parvati, the Hindu goddess of fertility, love and devotion, as well as of divine strength and power. A central deity in the Trinity of Goddesses in Hinduism (Tridevi), she is known by many names and is worshipped as the Mother Goddess.
This head of Gowri is an old collectible made using the technique of silver sheet embossing. Silver sheet embossing is an old artform that involves hammering a sheet of silver against a mould to give it basic shape, and then carving the details on the front side of the hollow structure, with the help of sharp tools.
Exceptionally crafted with intricate details on the crown, the piece is attached to a wooden stand. It is also decorated with semi-precious gems on the earlobes and the forehead.
