This photograph is part of a series titled ‘Bhutan Echoes’ – a collection of evocative black and white photographs taken in Bhutan over a decade ago by photographer, Serena Chopra, that forms a personal photographic study of the landlocked Himalayan country.
Chopra captures the unique landscape of this country with its surprising blend of the secular and the religious, myth and reality, the traditional with the modern, and the immense contrast between its smaller townships and faraway ancient villages. The journey into Bhutan was also one of self-discovery for her, as the beautiful country drew her deeper into her first love, photography.
