An auspicious element in Hindu tradition, Deepalakshmi is a representation of the Goddess Lakshmi, holding a lamp or a ‘deep’ (diya) in her hands. Usually featuring a lamp that can be lit, Deeplakshmi is a symbol of good luck and prosperity, and the light that guides one in times of darkness and adversity.
Made of brass, this exquisite Deepalakshmi from the Deccan region features Goddess Lakshmi holding a single diya and standing on a stool. There is a crack on the base in the left side of this old collectible, but it is otherwise in good condition.
