ABOUT THE COLLECTION
Born in 1972, Sumedh Rajendran is an Indian artist who completed his BFA from the College of Fine Arts, Trivandrum in 1994, and an MFA from the Delhi College of Art in 1999. A recipient of the National Scholarship by the Government of India in 1993, he has also been a part of many prestigious residency programmes, including the 2007 Hat Residency Program by the University of Manchester, the 2006 Theertha International Residency, Colombo and the 2003 KHOJ International Artists’ Residency, New Delhi.
Rajendran’s work is characterised by rustic layers, graphic elements and composite bodies, evoking the current turbulent social and political situation. He has exhibited his works in numerous solo and group shows in India and abroad. In 2012, he was also a participant in the first edition of the International Kochi-Muziris Biennale.
