Rajnish Kaur

Indian artist Rajnish Kaur was born in 1967, and studied Fine Arts at the College of Art, New Delhi and the Chelsea College of Art, London. Known for her bold and impressive art works, which embody a youthful play of colours, Rajnish Kaur’s paintings reveal her expressionistic tendencies. An interesting blend of spontaneity and deliberation, she builds her colourful canvasses by applying paint in multiple layers and creating a rhythmic structure of lines and forms.

A recipient of several awards and scholarships, including a Junior Fellowship from the Government of India, a UNO scholarship, the AIFACS Award and a Charles Wallace scholarship, Rajnish Kaur has held several exhibitions of her work and participated in group exhibitions in India and abroad. An art work by the artist, titled 'Backward is Forward', sold at the Saffronart Mumbai 'Contemporary Indian Art' auction in 2006 for $20,568.
