Artist Profile
Born in 1935 in Amritsar, Paramjit Singh received his Diploma in Fine Arts from Delhi Polytechnic in 1958 and studied Printmaking at Atelier Nord, Norway in the 1970's. He was a Professor of Art and Art Education at Jamia Milia Islamia from 1963-1992.
Known for creating panoramic visions of mystic landscapes, Paramjit Singh's canvases offer viewers a glimpse beyond the urban world, taking them beyond the noise and chaos of roads packed with vehicles, and into spaces with abundant nature. Singh's artworks are a 'aesthetic haven' for its viewers.
Paramjit Singh won a National Award in 1970 and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions and shows, in India and across the world. Married to renowned artist Arpita Singh, he currently lives and works in New Delhi.
