Karl Blossfeldt
ABOUT THE COLLECTION
German photographer, sculptor and professor Karl Blossfeldt is known for his close-up photographs of plants and their natural structure, focusing mainly on the repetitive patterns found in nature’s texture and forms. Though Blossfeldt never received any formal training in photography, his photographs are among the most innovative works of the time. His works were published in 1928, in the form of a book “Urformen der Kunst”, which quickly became an international bestseller. Inspired by nature, he believed that plants should be valued as totally artistic and architectural structures.
