Born in Hanoi in 1974, Nguyen Minh Phuoc graduated from the University of Fine Arts, Hanoi in 1997, and completed an Independent Creative Art Spaces Leadership Training in Paris in 2005.
Inspired by his travels to Buddhist destinations, Nguyen Minh Phuoc depicts Buddhist monks in his paintings in an extremely appealing artistic style. His paintings are serene and beautiful, with the monks in their magnificently colours robes intentionally highlighted against hazy textured backgrounds. Exuding warmth, the paintings depict respect not just for the lifestyle of the monks, but also of the artist’s own search for the higher meaning of life.
Nguyen Minh Phuoc has had several solo exhibitions in Vietnam, and also in Germany and Japan. He has also participated in several group exhibitions internationally, and his works have been featured in leading magazines such as Time Out Magazine, NY Arts Magazine, New York Times and The Strait Times.
